Louisiana Picked Sixth; Hole Named Preseason All-SBC

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Senior setter Andrea Hole was named to the preseason all-Sun Belt Conference team, and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team was picked to finish sixth as the Sun Belt Conference announced its 2014 preseason all-conference team and poll.
Hole was a second-team all-SBC selection a year ago after transitioning to setter from an outside hitter slot. She responded by finishing third in the league with 10.52 assists per set and is one of just two returning setters in the conference from a year ago to have averaged better than 10 assists per set last season.
In the preseason poll, the Ragin' Cajuns were picked sixth out of 11 league schools, earning 63 total points and received a first-place vote. UALR was picked to win the league crown with 110 points, receiving four first-place votes, while defending SBC Tournament champion Texas State was right behind the Trojans in the second slot.
Louisiana finished in a tie for fifth place a year ago, going 19-14 and posting a 9-9 record in league play while being the only SBC team to pick up wins over both of the top-finishing teams in the league (Western Kentucky and UALR). The 19 wins was the most by the team since the1997 season,
The Ragin' Cajuns return nine letterwinners from last year's squad, while head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot returns for her seventh season at the helm. The squad will kick off the 2014 season on Friday, August 29 against Fresno State to open the Rice Adidas Invitational in Houston.
