Cajuns Golf To Tee Off At Sun Belt Championship

SAUCIER, Miss. – The Louisiana golf team is set to tee off at the 2014 Sun Belt Golf Championship starting on Monday at Grand Bear Golf Course. The first round gets underway at 8 a.m. on Monday. The second round is slated for 8 a.m. on Tuesday, while the third and final round is Wednesday.

"We are very anxious and excited to compete," head coach Theo Sliman said. "It's conference tournament time, and this is our super bowl. This is going to be a challenging tournament and should come down to the last couple holes. I know the guys are ready and we just need to stay patient and stick to the process. We've seen this course before, and I think it sets up nicely for our team."

Arkansas State, UALR, Georgia State, Louisiana, ULM, South Alabama, Texas State, Troy, UT Arlington and WKU make up the tournament field.

The Cajuns are paired with Troy and Arkansas State in the first round. Christian Verrougstraete, Fernando Cruz Valle, Haraldur Magnus, Ross Davis and Thomas Strandemo will make the start for Louisiana.
