LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team is set to close out the fall season on Sunday as the Cajuns take part in the Moe O'Brien Match Play Championship held at the Lake Charles Country Club.

The Cajuns join Houston, Southeastern Louisiana and host McNeese State in the event. Play gets underway at 8 a.m.

Louisiana will face the Lions to open play in a best-of-three match play competition with the winner moving on to face the winner of Houston and McNeese State later in the day. The two losing teams from the first round will also face off later in the day.

"This is another great opportunity for our team to finish the fall on a strong note," head coach Theo Sliman said. "I feel like our team has been lacking competitive spirit, and I think that an event like this can light the competitive fire in them. Also we are still looking to solidify the back end of the lineup, so this will be a great opportunity for Ross (Davis) and Thomas (Strandemo) to prove themselves."

Senior Louis Kelly, Haraldur Magnus and Fernando Cruz Valle join Davis and Strandemo in the starting lineup. Kelly is coming off of a tournament win at the Miramont Invitational a week ago. The Sewell, N.J. native has placed in the top 10 of three of five events this fall.

Live scoring for the Moe O'Brien Match Play Championship is available on BirdieFire.com.
