LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Will Neighbour scored 24 points to lead three players in double figures and UALR used a 23-11 run over the final 10:49 to claim an 80-69 victory over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns in a Sun Belt Conference game on Thursday at the Jake Stephens Center.

Josh Hagins added 14 points for UALR (11-10, 6-3 SBC) while Ben Dillard 11 points. Neighbour grabbed 12 rebounds for the Trojans, who held a 38-31 advantage and outscored the Ragin' Cajuns, 41-30, in the second half.

Louisiana (12-9, 3-5 SBC), which played without leading scorer/rebounder Shawn Long (disciplinary) and Kasey Shepherd (injury), was led by Elfrid Payton with 20 points with Abbevile's J.J. Davenport posting career-highs with 14 points and 11 rebounds to record his first career double-double.  Xavian Rimmer added 12 points for the Cajuns, who shot 10-for-27 (37.0 percent) in the second half, while Kevin Brown and Bryant Mbamalu added seven points each.

"I thought the team played well early on for us, but didn't get the breaks in the second half and didn't guard well," head coach Bob Marlin said. "We had some guys step up for us tonight. J.J. Davenport played very well for us tonight. He went up against two 6-foot-10 guys tonight, battled hard and did a good job for us."

Neighbour, who finished 7-for-9 from the floor, scored 13 points in the second half as UALR went 15-for-27 (55.6 percent) in the second half and finished 25-for-53 (47.2 percent) for the game.  The 6-foot-10 senior gave UALR a 60-59 lead with a free throw with 10:23 left before the Trojans pulled away to a 76-66 lead on a layup by Dillard at the 3:16 mark.

After Dillard nailed a 3-pointer on the Trojans' opening possession, the Cajuns went on a 16-3 run to take their biggest lead of the half. Rimmer sank a trio of 3-pointers for the Cajuns during the run while a dunk by Payton gave Louisiana a 16-6 lead with 15:00 remaining in the first half.

Payton connected on a pair of free throws with 13:57 remaining that gave the Cajuns a 20-10 advantage before UALR chipped away at the lead.

UALR's Mauris Hill hit one of two free throws with 2:51 remaining in the first half that tied the game at 32-32 and Neighbour added a pair of free throws at the 2:04 mark that gave the Trojans a 34-33 lead.

Both teams traded the lead before two free throws by Kevin Brown gave the Cajuns a 39-36 lead with 1:15 remaining. But a 3-pointer by UALR's Mareik Isom with 32 seconds left tied the game at 39-39 at halftime.

The Cajuns finished 20-for-53 (37.7 percent) from the floor, 4-for-20 (20.0 percent) from behind the 3-point line and 25-for-31 (80.6 percent) from the charity stripe. UALR made 27 of 35 free throws with Neighbour going 9-for-11 from the line with Dillard finishing 6-for-7.

The Ragin' Cajuns will return to action on Saturday when it plays host to ULM at the Cajundome. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. and the game will follow the women's 5 p.m. contest between Louisiana and ULM.
