LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns volleyball program and head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot announced the 2013 season schedule on Tuesday. This fall marks the Ragin' Cajuns sixth season under Mazeitis-Fontenot's direction.

The schedule features the annual tournament at Earl K. Long Gym, as part of a 14-match, non-conference slate, and an 18-game, double round robin Sun Belt Conference slate.

The squad's home tournament honors the late-Sawyer Camillo who passed away at her home during the 2012 offseason. The Sawyer Camillo Memorial Volleyball Classic is scheduled for Sept. 6-7 at Long Gym and features the Ragin' Cajuns, Alcorn State, Houston and Nicholls State.

The remainder of the home schedule occurs during Sun Belt Conference play with nine matches at Long Gym spanning Oct. 2-Nov. 17.

Louisiana's non-conference slate also features pre-conference tournaments at Houston Baptist (Aug. 30-31), University of Georgia (Sept. 13-14) and Ole Miss (Sept. 20-21).

The 2013 season begins Aug. 30-31 in Houston as the Cajuns take part in a tournament hosted by Houston Baptist. UL opens tournament play against UT-Pan American at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 30.

A midweek trip to Alcorn State (Sept. 3) precedes the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Volleyball Classic at Earl K. Long Gym (Sept. 6-7).

Louisiana closes out non-conference play with a road match at Jackson State on Sept. 10 and trips to Athens, Ga., and Oxford, Miss. for weekend tournaments. In the Georgia-based tournament the Cajuns will face UNC-Greensboro, Georgia and North Florida. Competition at Ole Miss includes Chattanooga, Southern Miss and the host-Rebels.

The Cajuns begin Sun Belt Conference play against a pair of league newcomers with a road trip to face Texas State (Sept. 27) and UT Arlington (Sept. 28).

The Sun Belt home opener is set for Wednesday, Oct. 2 against in-state rival ULM.

After spending the rest of October playing five of eight SBC matches on the road, the Cajuns will enjoy the comforts of home in November playing five league matches at Earl K. Long Gym.

The regular season closes with a three-match homestand at Earl K. Long Gym beginning Sunday, Nov. 10 against Texas State. The following weekend, UT Arlington (Nov. 15) and UALR (Nov. 17) visit to bring the season to a close.

The 2013 Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship is being held Nov. 21-23 at Trojan Arena on the campus of Troy University in Troy, Ala.

The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off of an appearance in the SBC Championship for the second time in the past three seasons. The 16 wins in 2012 increased the squad's win total over the past three seasons to 47 marking the best three-year stretch for the program since 1997-99 when 48 wins were recorded.
