SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Freshmen twins Hunter and Yates Johnson had a tremendous run at the USTA National Open Hard Court Championships this past weekend at the Balboa Tennis Club as the pair dropped a heartbreaker in the men's doubles final against the fifth seeded team of Nicholas Ballou and Matt Seeberger, 1-6, 7-6, 6-4.

"The twins are always pushing to better themselves every week,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “Again they are getting better by this great result. I'm looking forward to them breaking through on the ATP tour this summer."

The Johnsons made quick work on Timothy Sah and Jeff Williams in the opening round claiming a 6-1, 6-1 triumph.

In the second round, the twins scored a huge victory defeating the top seeded team of Quinn Borchard and Wyatt Houghton, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6.  The duo came from behind with the No.1 seed serving for the match at 5-4 in the third and final set to advance to the quarterfinals.

After topping the team of Brent Davis and Zachary Leslie, 6-1, 6-1, in the quarterfinals, Hunter and Yates took down the No.3 seed Sergio Chip and Brett van Linge 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the finals.
