Game Notes

WHAT'S ON TAP?  The Ragin' Cajuns travel to Monroe, La. to close out the regular season with a set of three games with in-state conference rival Louisiana-Monroe.  The Cajuns improved to 37-11  overall and 16-4 in Sun Belt play this past weekend with a sweep of Troy, and have now won their last 19 games.

CAJUNS UPDATE:  The Cajuns swept Troy last weekend winning three games by scores of 9-1, 6-0 and 7-2.  Sophomore pitcher Jordan Wallace picked up two wins and a save and senior Nerissa Myers drove in five runs on Sunday, and scored four over the weekend to lead the Cajuns to the sweep.

MYERS WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: For the second time since her return to the lineup from an injury, Nerissa Myers has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week.  She batted .667 over the week of April 21-28, and drove in five runs while scoring four runs, leading the Cajuns to a sweep of the Troy Trojans in Senior Weekend at Lamson Park.

WE'RE GOING STREAKING: The Cajuns are in the midst of a season-high 19 game winning streak, dating back to March 17 at South Alabama.  In comparison, #1 Oklahoma (43-3), has only won 17 consecutive games this season, and there are 99 teams in NCAA Division-I that have won  19-or-less games this season.  The Cajuns started the 2012 season with a 28 game winning streak.

WALLACE IN THE STREAK: Jordan Wallace has been a huge factor in the Cajuns' current winning streak.  She holds a 14-0 record with two saves in 12 starts and 18 total appearances with a 0.99 ERA and 160 strikeouts.  She has a strikeout to walk ratio of 5.71 and has thrown 85.0 innings, allowing just 10 extra-base hits.  She has held opponents to a .136 batting average, allowing just 40 hits.

HAACK ATTACK: Matte Haack added three more hits on the weekend, and continues to be one of the hottest bats in the Cajuns' lineup during the current winning streak.  In the past 19 games, Haack is batting .423 with six home runs, 28 RBI and 17 runs scored, going 22-for-52 at the plate.  She has also reached base eight times on a base on balls and been plunked four times.

WHAT ARE THEY RANKED? The Cajuns moved up to 21st in the USA Today/NFCA Softball poll when it was released on Tuesday morning, moving up one spot from last week's poll. They also sit in 21st in the National RPI rankings, which ranks every team in the NCAA Division-I.

WALLACE AMONG NATIONAL RANKS: Jordan Wallace has fanned 11.1 batters per seven-innings, which is tied for second with Hanna Mennenga of Eastern Illinois.  Mennenga has fanned 284 in 178.2 innings pitched.  They are trying to catch national leader, Blaire Luna of Texas, with 12.4 K's per seven innings.  Wallace's 283 strikeouts also ranks sixth in the nation.

CAREER RECORD WATCH: Nerissa Myers has averaged over one run per game since her return from an ankle injury.  She now has 37 runs scored on the season, and 228 in her career, placing her second all-time at Louisiana. She is just two runs away from tying Jerie Alexander (1999-02) at 230 runs, the most all-time at Louisiana.  Myers was also hit by her 35th career pitch against FAU, breaking the school record of times hit by the pitch.

HOME SWEET HOME:  The Cajuns finished up the home portion of their 2013 campaign last weekend with a sweep of conference opponent, Troy.  They finished the season 21-2 at Lamson Park, with their last loss at home coming on March 10, against Western Kentucky.  Since 2010, the Cajuns have gone 101-6 at home.
