LAFAYETTE, La. - The Ragin' Cajuns golf team is set to host the 28th Annual Louisiana Classics golf tournament at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, La. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is slated to start at 8 a.m. on Monday.

“We again have a very talented field at the Louisiana Classics this year,” head coach Theo Sliman said. “It's a great opportunity for team to get some wins against ranked opponents. With almost half of the field ranked in the GolfStat top 50, fans will have the opportunity to see some great golf at a great course.

“I am extremely excited about live streaming and hosting a tournament of this caliber. The goal of the tournament is to make it better and better each year, and I feel like we have done that. The prestige of this tournament is a direct correlation of the people involved in putting on the event. Obviously Oakbourne Country Club and the membership do an outstanding job in helping put on this tournament, and the course is going to be a treat for these players to play on. “

Admission is free to the public with a shotgun start slated for both Monday and Tuesday at 8 a.m. The Practice Round/College-Am is slated for Noon on Sunday.

This year's Louisiana Classics features a strong 14-team field including host Louisiana, No.12 LSU, No.19 Illinois, No.24 Kent State, No.36 Houston, No.38 Tulsa, No.47 South Alabama, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Southeastern La., Southern Miss, Texas State and UTSA.

Seniors Brandt Garon, Yohann Vora and Ethan Savoy will anchor the Louisiana squad, while Peter Lamaris and Ross Davis round out the starting lineup for the Cajuns. Christian Verrougstraete, Thomas Strandemo, Kelsey Angelle, Jason Noto and Adam Galliano each will play as individuals at the tournament.

“I am anxious to see how all 10 of our guys compete.” Sliman added.  “Playing at home can be difficult at times because the guys will put a little bit of pressure on themselves. With us having the access to play all of our guys, this is going to be a big help for us to find the right mix for a lineup as we near postseason play. I am hoping some guys will step up and take advantage of this great opportunity.”

Fans who are unable to make it out to Oakbourne can watch play live online for the first time ever as there will be a free broadcast that will feature holes nine and 18 with commentary provided by Dan McDonald and Gerald Broussard.

The live stream begins at 9:30 a.m. CT on both Monday, March 4 and Tuesday, March 5. The stream will conclude with the end of play on Monday, and will wrap up with the awards ceremony on Tuesday.
