LAFAYETTE – During Saturday's Ragin' Cajuns basketball doubleheader with WKU at the Cajundome, members of the UL Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be raising funds for Samaritan's Feet, a charity that has provided over four million shoes to children over the last six years.
The SAAC members are supporting the worthy cause by attending the game barefoot. The committee will have a booth in the front lobby of the Cajundome where Samaritan's Feet orange wristbands will be sold at $10 apiece to raise money for the charity.
The coaching staffs of both schools will wear orange ribbons in honor of Samaritan's Feet.
Set as a community service initiative by the student-athlete advisory committee, the goal for Ragin' Cajuns Athletics was to raise money for 700 pairs of shoes.
Samaritan's Feet is a charity formed in 2007 to call attention to the 300 million children worldwide who do not have shoes. Samaritan Feet hopes to give 10 million pairs of shoes to 10 million people in 10 years.
