LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is hosting a food drive for the FoodNet Acadiana, a local food bank, for the upcoming holiday season. Student-athletes and coaches will be on hand collecting non-perishable foods and cash donations before the Ragin' Cajuns football game on Nov. 30 from 1–3 p.m. and at the Cox Communications Athletic Complex on Dec. 4 from 7-9 a.m.
The first food collection will take place during tailgating of the Ragin' Cajuns final home football game of the season, from 1–3 p.m., at the music stage by Gate A at Cajun Field. A group of student-athletes will be there in their Ragin' Cajuns jerseys, collecting non-perishable foods.
The second collection will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the Cox Communications Athletic Complex, from 7-9 a.m. The Ragin' Cajuns SAAC will be helping host "Thinking Out Loud with Steve Peloquin", KPEL's morning radio show on ESPN 1420 AM. Fans will be encouraged to drop off canned good on their way to work.
Cash donations for FoodNet will also be accepted.
Only non-perishable food can be accepted, and will all be delivered to FoodNet Acadiana. FoodNet is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing food in Lafayette Parish who have genuine need. It was established in October 1987, and represents more than 68 towns and cities in the nine parishes that comprise Acadiana.
