Record Evening?: The Ragin' Cajuns are aiming to set the best start in the history of the program with a win over McNeese Tuesday night. Louisiana is currently 22-0, matching the 2006 squad for the best start to open a season.
Dominating the Rival: UL holds an overall 93-24 record against McNeese State, a rivalry that dates back to 1981. The Cajuns are riding a current three game winning streak over the Cowgirls, including sweeping the two games played against each other last year. Co-head coach Stefni Lotief is 32-3 against McNeese State in her tenure.
Opening up SBC Play: The Ragin' Cajuns began conference play with a sweep of North Texas last weekend. UL is off to a 3-0 start in SBC – their best start since 2005, where they opened up 12-0.
Getting it Done in Extras: Out of the five games played last week, three of the contests went to extra innings. Louisiana topped Houston, 12-7 in a nine inning affair on Wednesday and won both games on Saturday against North Texas in extras – 7-6, in 10 innings in game one and 5-4, in nine innings in the nightcap.
All or Nothing: The squad has 25 hits with the bases loaded this year. Nearly a fourth of the Cajuns' bases loaded knocks have left the yard as the team has tallied six grand slams.
Orgeron Goes Deep Again: Christi Orgeron connected for her eighth and ninth homeruns of the year in the North Texas series. Orgeron is tied for the Sun Belt lead in long balls with Western Kentucky's Kelsie Mattox.
Wallace First to 10 Wins: Jordan Wallace finished the week 3-0 and became the first UL pitcher to double digit wins, improving her record to 10-0 on the year. The freshman hurled a combined 19.1 innings, while going the distance in two of the three games and struck out 12 hitters.
Brignac Climbs K List: Ashley Brignac struck out four Mean Green hitters in game two on Saturday, giving her 749 punch outs in her career. The senior has moved into third place all-time in Sun Belt history.
Orgeron Closing in on Records: The New Orleans native has driven in 238 runs in her career, ranking her third in SBC and second in UL history. Orgeron has 57 career homeruns and needs just one more to climb into fourth place conference and school history.
Smith's Career Day: Katie Smith tallied a career-high four hits on Sunday, finishing the day 4-for-4 and drove in a run. The senior is third all-time at UL in steals with 78.
Beat the Streak: Matte Haack is currently riding a 14 game hit streak. The all-time Cajuns record is 25 games set by Kelli Bruce in 1999.
Scouting McNeese State: The Cowgirls come into Tuesday's matchup with a record of 15-7, having won five of their last six games.
Cowgirl's Hitting: MSU features Claire Terracina, who just became the school's all-time triples leader, paces the club with a .324 batting average and five three baggers. Ashley Modzelewski as a team-high 12 RBI and two homeruns.
Cowgirl's Pitching: McNeese's strong point this season has been their pitching staff. Tiffany Denham threw a complete game, three-hitter, in a 3-1 victory over then No. 1 Arizona State on Feb. 10. Denham leads the staff with a 1.67 ERA, while Meagan Bond owns a 9-5 record, hurling 80.2 innings, with 84 strikeouts and a 2.08 ERA.
