Louisiana was unable to complete their second half surge against UALR on Wednesday evening as they fell 55-41 at Earl K. Long Gym.
 
The Cajuns (5-19, 0-12) fell down by as much as 14 points in the first half, before storming back to cut the deficit within four points in the second half. UALR (13-11, 8-3) stood their ground as they went on a late 14-0 scoring spurt to close out the game.
 
UL was outrebounded by 18 and shot 29 percent in the game. Krystal Motley led the Cajuns with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Michelle Brunker tallied a team-high eight rebounds.
 
Little Rock was paced by Kiera Clark with 12 points. UALR had four players finish with seven or more rebounds in route to a team effort of 42 boards in the game.
 
The Trojans jumped out to a quick lead as Janette Merriex knocked down a three to give the visitors a 3-0 advantage. Taylor Gault rattled off seven straight points of her own building the Little Rock lead to 10-0 going into the first media break.
 
The Cajuns were held scoreless for the first eight-plus minutes of the contest until Brunker connected on a baseline jumper after receiving a pass from Megan Whittaker to make it a 12-2 ballgame with 11:48 to play in the first stanza.
 
After a basket from Clark extended UALR's lead to 16-4, UL responded with back-to-back triples from Whittaker and Laurie' Beaty cutting the Trojan advantage to six points.
 
Minutes later Whittaker drove the basline and passed the ball off to Brooklyn Arceneux for a layup making the score 18-12 with 7:36 remaining in the first 20 minutes. Little Rock answered by scoring eight straight points, increasing their advantage to the biggest of the half at 26-12.
 
Motley converted on two straight possessions as the shot clock was expiring to cut the UALR lead to 10 points.
 
Josie West dumped the ball off to a slashing Robbie Brown for a layup with 20 seconds remaining in the half, making the score 28-18 going into the locker rooms.
 
Motley paced the Cajuns with six points in the half. Brunker added two points to go along with a team-leading six rebounds.
 
Gault had nine points in the first 20 minutes to lead the way for Little Rock.
 
Merriex hit a deep three-pointer for the visitors as the shot clock expired to up their lead to 31-19. Brown answered for the Cajuns drilling her first three of her freshman career, bringing the game back to within nine points.
 
Motley knocked down a triple and a two-point jumper on consecutive possessions to spark a Louisiana 7-0 run. Arceneaux completed the run as she converted on two attempts from the charity stripe, narrowing the gap to four at 33-29, with 14:47 remaining.
 
UALR scored the next to baskets of the contest to up their lead back to eight points.
 
The teams traded baskets as Motley knocked down two more triples giving her a total of three for the game, making the score 41-35 in favor of Little Rock with 9:55 to play.
 
The Trojans would embark on a 14-0 scoring run over the next five and a half minutes to give them their largest advantage of the game at 55-35 with 4:31 remaining in the game.
