Bowl Week Events For Ragin’ Cajuns Fans Unveiled

LAFAYETTE – The Ragin' Cajuns Athletics Department has announced those events open to the public during game week for the upcoming R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
The week begins with the “official send off” of the Ragin' Cajuns at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18 as fans are invited to join the team for the Cajun Walk beginning at the intersection of Reinhardt Drive and Bertrand Drive (near track/soccer complex). The team departs from the athletics complex at 1 p.m.
Fans arriving in New Orleans on Tuesday – or alumni from the New Orleans area – are encouraged to welcome the when they arrive at the Marriott hotel on Canal Street at approximately 4 p.m.
Throughout the week fans will have the opportunity to “talk football” with Sports Radio ESPN 1420-AM personalities Steve Peloquin and Jay Walker. Peloquin's “Thinking Out Loud” morning show will air from 7 a.m.-9 a.m., Wednesday-Friday from the Marriott on Canal Street. Walker's “Bird's Eye View” afternoon program is scheduled to air live from Walk-On's on Poydras Street from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday.
The New Orleans Bowl edition of the Mark Hudspeth Radio Show is set for Thursday, Dec. 20 from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. at Walk-On's on Poydras.
The busy schedule of public events starts on Wednesday, Dec. 19 as UL Athletics provides transportation to the Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball game at Tulane. Interested fans meet in the lobby of the Marriott on Canal Street at 10:15 a.m.
On Thursday, Dec. 20, the Pride of Acadiana marching band will lead fans from the Marriott to Bourbon Street in Second Line fashion. The “Ragin' Cajuns 'We're Back!'” parade sponsored by MidSouth Bank starts at 9 p.m.
A popular event amongst all Cajuns fans last year, the Ragin' Cajuns Fan Fest sponsored by Home Bank returns to the Marriott. The reception, which is free and open to all Ragin' Cajuns fans, is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 21 from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. and will feature live music from Roddy Romero and the Hub City All-Stars. Complimentary beverages will be supplied.
The New Orleans Bowl Friday Night Concert is set for Champions Square on Friday, Dec. 21 from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. and features music by Bad Company and The Beach Boys. Bus transportation will be provided from the Marriott to Champions Square from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
On New Orleans Bowl gameday (Saturday, Dec. 22) the schedule of events consists of the RCAF/UL Alumni Association Tailgate Party inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the Rouse's Ragin' Cajuns Tailgate Party.
The RCAF/Alumni Association tailgate party, presented by IberiaBank and Cox, is set to run from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. in the Bienville Room (enter Gate C) of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Admission is free to all RCAF 2012 Annual Fund donors and current Alumni Association members. Admission is $10 for all other individuals.
The Rouse's tailgate event, which features music from Sammy Kershaw, takes place in the Rouse's parking lot located on 701 Baronne Street.
