RALEIGH, N.C. – The Ragin' Cajuns golf team is set to close out the 2012 Fall Season this weekend as the Cajuns head to the Wolfpack Intercollegiate hosted by North Carolina State at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
“This is an excellent opportunity for our team to close out the fall season on a good note,” head coach Theo Sliman said. “We have struggled to this point in the season, but I believe that our team is a lot better than what we have showed. This is a good field at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate and the course is in excellent condition. I think our guys will come out aggressive tomorrow and hopefully have a result we can build off of heading into the spring.”
Play opens Friday at 8 p.m. with a shotgun start. The teams will play 36 holes on Friday with the second round to follow immediately after the completion of the first round. The final round will get underway on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. with teams slated to start off of holes 1 and 10.
The field includes host the host Wolfpack, Boston College, Campbell, East Carolina, Louisiana, Maryland, Memphis, Rhode Island, No.37 North Carolina, UNC Wilmington, UNC Greensboro and Western Carolina.
The Cajuns finished third at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate a year ago as former UL golfers Philipp Fendt and Chris Weninger placed in the top 10.
Seniors Yohann Vora, Brandt Garon and Ethan Savoy will look to lead the squad over the weekend. Vora leads the squad with two top 25 performances on the season. Thomas Strandemo and Kelsey Angelle round out the starters for UL.
