The Cajuns women's tennis team had a good showing at the Northwestern State University Lady Demon Invitational over the weekend in Natchitoches, La. UL had three athletes post a 2-1 record at the event.
“It was a productive weekend at the Northwestern State Invitational,” head women's tennis coach Greg Harkins said. “I was impressed with our fitness as a team. We recovered from the first day and showed improvement physically and mentally on the second day of competition. The Lady Cajuns represented the University well and got a lot of match experience.”
The team was represented in 37 matches over the course of the event as junior Hannah Appleyard and freshman Haley Acuna each finished third in their respective flights.
Appleyard and Sandra Ahlqvist pulled out tough battles in third set tie breakers and teamed up as doubles partners for a pair of quality wins to finish second in their flight.
The Cajuns return to action in two weeks, Oct 7-9, as they host the Ragin' Cajun Women's Classic at Cajun Courts.
