Sweep of Lions Evens Non-Conference Mark

The win evened the Ragin' Cajuns (8-8) non-conference record as the squad heads into Sun Belt play this weekend.
Taylor Meade chipped in eight kills and had a solid evening behind the service line notching seven service aces.
Freshman Caitlin Auxilien recorded double figures in digs for the fifth consecutive outing, finishing with a match-high 17.
Setter Mandi Gavin recorded 33 assists moving her into the program's all-time career Top 5 list. Gavin's 1,675 career assists surpasses Jay Rayman (1,669) for fifth place.
The Lions (4-13) were dealt their first home loss of the season. Leading the way for the hosts was Elizabeth Ramee who finished the night with 11 kills.
UL took control of the opening set with a Blair Claypoole kill that evened the score at 5-all. A kill by Kerrilyn Lazare followed and was the first of three straight points that put the Cajuns ahead 9-5.
The Lions closed within two points, 13-11, then three straight service aces from Meade rebuilt a comfortable margin for the Cajuns.
Meade began the second set with a kill off an SLU serve, then served up an ace for a quick 2-0 lead. UL never trailed in the set and posted a 25-19 win that opened a 2-0 lead in the match.
In the final set Louisiana withstood an 8-2 SLU run that gave the hosts a 14-12 lead following a kill by Arianne Cruckshank. An attack error by Kinsey Williams ended the Lions run then the serve of Meade led to three straight points that helped the Cajuns take control of the set.
White broke the final tie of the set with a kill that put UL in front 17-16 and the squad held on to that lead to complete the sweep.
The Ragin' Cajuns travel to Alabama this weekend to open Sun Belt Conference play. First up is a meeting with South Alabama in Mobile on Friday at 7 p.m. The weekend wraps up Sunday in Troy for a 1 p.m., match with the Trojans.
