Cajuns Add Filce to Signing Class

Filce, a native of Thibodaux, will join the Cajuns for the 2011-2012 season and primarily play as a middle blocker for UL.
The versatile athlete was a volleyball standout at E.D. White Catholic High School, where she helped the Lady Cardinals to a Division III State Championship in 2008. E.D. White Catholic captured district championships in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The Lady Cardinals were state semi-finalists during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
In the fall of 2010, Filce was named the Most Valuable Offensive Player in District 3-III and earned All-State honors as announced by the Louisiana Volleyball Coaches Association. She was also a Louisiana All-Star participant and E.D. White Catholic's Wendy's High School Heisman award winner.
In addition to volleyball, White was a 2008 regional finalist in the long jump and a state finalist in the triple jump in 2009.
"Abby is a great athlete," said Mazeitis. "Not only is she a solid athlete, she is also a strong student. We are excited to have her join the program here at UL."
Filce joins four other student-athletes who signed their letters of intent earlier this year: Mayme Cook, Kaylee Nemeth, Andrea Hole and Kelly Wiesmann.
