Anderson, Laurent Compete in LSU Invite

After having a strong showing at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, University of Louisiana senior Jasmine Anderson looked to improve her time in the 60-meter hurdles at the LSU Last Chance Invitational in Baton Rouge on Friday evening.

Anderson's time of 8.37 was just a tenth behind her career-mark of 8.27 set at the SBC Championships in Jonesboro on Monday. Friday's time was her second best performance of the season.

Currently, Anderson's mark of 8.27 ranks 24th in the nation in the 60-meter hurdles. The NCAA Indoor Championships will take a minimum of 14 participants for each event and may add more depending on the amount of automatic qualifiers.

Also, competing in the LSU meet was Houma native Amber Laurent. Laurent recorded a height of 10-8, missing her career-high of 11-3 ¼ set at the SBC Championships last Monday.

Louisiana opens the 2011 outdoor season next weekend at the McNeese Cowboy Relays in Lake Charles. The one-day meet will be held on Saturday, March 12.
