Cajuns Falter Against Ranked Zips

The Zips (9-3) won five of the singles matches to claim a 5-2 win over the Cajuns (9-5).
"Our girls fought hard and did not quit until the last point," said UL head coach Greg Harkins. "But you have to give credit to the Zips. They played well today. But we'll take the experience and continue to get better."
The Cajuns started off strong by claiming the doubles point. Julie Mazinova and Audrey Wooland won their fourth straight match knocking off the 27th-ranked pairing of Zara Harutyunyun and Angelina Jogasuria, 8-4.
The Cajuns' no. 3 doubles duo of Mia Gordon and Milou Israel also won their match 8-4 to give UL an early 1-0 edge.
"It was a great effort to go out and grab the doubles point from a nationally-ranked team," added Harkins. "The girls have been playing hard and winning some good matches over the past few weeks."
But the Zips ruled the day on the singles courts. Wooland tallied the lone point for the Cajuns with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Akron's Jogasuria. It was the sixth consecutive victory for the sophomore from Sugar Land, Texas.
The Cajuns will now take some time off to rest and recuperate before hosting Lamar on Saturday, March 26. The two squads will face off at 1 p.m. CT at Cajun Courts.
