No. 62 Islanders Down Cajuns, 5-2

For the fifth straight match, Louisiana's men's tennis team faced a nationally-ranked opponent and came up short. The Cajuns fell to No. 62 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday, 5-2, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The Cajuns started off strong winning the doubles point. Brandon Fairne and Yanick Mandl won the first match of the day from the No. 2 spot, 9-8, needing a 7-5 tiebreaker to seal the match. Carlin Murry and Carl Alberton sealed the doubles point, winning 8-6 in the No. 3 doubles pairing.

In singles, the Islanders were too much for UL. Alberton won his match against Gergo Weidinger, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3, but the rest of the Cajuns fell to the home squad.

The Cajuns will now have a week off before hosting their first home match of the season. UL will host FAMU on Feb. 20 at Cajun Courts at 10 a.m. CT.
