Antwain Keyes and Jasmine Anderson turned in impressive performances to lead Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's track and field squads on Friday in the opening day of Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational.

Keyes placed second in the men's high jump clearing 2.05m/6-8 ¾, besting athletes from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Southern Miss and South Carolina.

Anderson finished third in the women's 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.27 seconds. She was the top collegiate finisher, behind only a pair of unattached athletes.

Anderson's 60 meter hurdles time was a new school indoor record, besting the mark of 8.38 she set at the Texas A&M Conference Challenge (Jan. 15) and tied at the Houston Invitational (Jan. 29). She nabbed the record in the semifinals and matched the mark in the finals.

"We had a shaky start because of a drastic time change in the schedule, but the athletes handled it well," said interim head coach Paula Ogunbanjo. "Everyone is working hard, we see a difference, and this was a great start to this two-day meet in Clemson."

Alexis Malone established another school record for the Cajuns, with her time of 7.63 seconds in the semifinals of the women's 60 meter dash. Malone ran 7.65 in the finals and placed eighth in the event, marking her first time past preliminaries this season.

In men's pole vault, freshman Jake Renard placed fifth with a height of 4.30m/14-1 ¼. He cleared his season-and college-best height, set last weekend at McNeese State, by one foot.

DeMarcus Runnels, a freshman competing in the 400 meter dash for just the second time in his career, turned in a season-best time of 51.32 in the 400 meter dash invitational.

The Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational continues on Saturday with the final day of action. The first event is the open women's shot put at 8:00 a.m. (CDT). The first track event is scheduled for 10:00 (CDT) with the women's distance medley relay.
