2011 Bill Bass Open Set for Oct. 14
10/3/2011 7:07:00 PM | Athletics
The 2011 tournament is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 14 at Acadian Hills Country Club, with an 11 a.m. registration and lunch and a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.
Deadline for entries is Friday, Oct. 7, at noon. Reservations will be confirmed by e-mail upon receipt of entry form and payment.
Entry fee is $125 per person or $500 per team and includes green fee and cart, a souvenir golf shirt and other tee gifts, range balls, lunch and refreshments on the course. Also included are two mulligans for each player and may be used on any individual shot.
The tournament is a four-person scramble with a point system to allow for handicaps. Total team handicaps (all four handicaps added together) will be used in a point system that will determine handicap strokes for each team prior to play.
This year, several new features have been added to not only make the tournament a bigger part of Homecoming activities, but also to make the event one of the area's not-to-be-missed tournaments. The tournament is making a major push to get former UL athletes involved and playing in the event, so it is a great opportunity to meet some former Cajuns greats and renew acquaintances with others.
The tournament is open to everyone up to a maximum of 30 teams and 120 players, and raises funds for the Bill Bass Scholarship Fund and other Alumni Association programs as well as the Ragin' Cajun golf team.
In addition to the golf, lunch will be served before play and special events are planned on the course during the tournament. There will be celebrity sightings and a chance for interaction on several holes. Several door prizes will be presented following play and players and fans will have the opportunity to bid on several prestigious silent auction items.
Come and join us! Put together your own four-person team or send in your individual entry and you'll be paired up as part of a group. Better yet, become a sponsor and combine a day of golf while letting others know of your support of the Ragin' Cajuns.
More information on the event is available from the UL Alumni Association at 337-482-0904 or Dan McDonald at 337-857-8754 or danmcdonald@cox.net.
