Cajuns Out West For Sun Belt Rematches

Louisiana (9-13, 1-5 Sun Belt) meets Denver (7-12, 4-3 Sun Belt) on Friday at 8 p.m. (CT) in Hamilton Gym on the DU campus. On Sunday, the Cajuns visit North Texas (11-12, 2-5 Sun Belt) for a 1 p.m., match at the Mean Green Volleyball Center in Denton, Texas.
UL ended a six-day break and began the three-match road trip on Sunday in Monroe falling in a five-set thriller to the Warhawks.
Louisiana continued its newfound success on offense against La.-Monroe. The squad tallied 74 kills marking the second straight match the season-high was established.
In the last two outings UL has thrown down 133 kills over nine sets, averaging 14.8 kills per set.
The Cajuns enter the weekend one win shy of reaching double figures for a second straight season. The last time UL had consecutive double-figure win campaigns was 2001-02.
Lesley Mirarchi has reached double figures in kills in five straight matches, accumulating 57 over 20 sets for an average of 2.85 kills per set. Currently with 198 kills this season, Mirarchi is just two shy of notching a second consecutive season of 200-plus kills (posted 364 in 2010).
Mandi Gavin has posted six consecutive double-doubles dating back to the start of Sun Belt Conference play. In Sun Belt matches Gavin is averaging 1.62 kills, 7.29 assists and 3.46 digs per set. On Sunday in Monroe, Gavin turned in a career-high 57 assists and career-high 23 digs
Both matches this weekend are rematches from contests held two weeks ago at Earl K. Long Gym.
UL and Denver met on Sept. 30 with the Pioneers posting a 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-20) victory. The Cajuns faced the Mean Green two days later, and fueled by a then, season-high 59 kills claimed a 3-1 (25-17, 31-29, 23-25, 27-25) triumph.
Following this weekend's action, UL plays six of the season's final eight matches at Earl K. Long Gym.
