Four individuals who set school indoor records in the season opener at Texas A&M on Saturday, Jan. 15 will be back in action this weekend.
On the men's side, Justin Jones (6.87 - 60 meters) and Garrett Harkless (63-0 - weight throw) etched their names into the Cajuns' record book at Texas A&M. Harkless' weight throw distance of 63-0 ranks 27th nationally and is nearly eight feet higher than this season's second-best mark in the Sun Belt Conference.
On the women's side, school indoor record setters at Texas A&M were Jasmine Anderson (8.38 - 60 meter hurdles) and Alexis Malone (7.67 - 60 meters). Anderson's time of 8.38 in the 60 meter hurdles ranks 13th nationally and that was one of two Top 10 finishes that garnered her Sun Belt Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 18.
Looking to build upon first place finishes recorded at Texas A&M will be Antwain Keyes (6-10 ¾ - high jump), O'Daylon Thibeaux (49-10 ½ - triple jump) and Jacob Domingue (54-4 ½ - shot put).
The Cajuns will have season debut performances in the men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon as well as men's and women's 4x400 meter relays.
Casey Comeaux will represent UL in the heptathlon while Angela Roberts competes in the pentathlon.
Kelvan Turner, DeMarcus Runnels, Ryan Barber and Justin Jones will comprise the Cajuns squad in the men's 4x400 meter relay. In the women's 4x400 meter relay, the Cajuns will run Krystal Chevis, April Colomb, Tiffany Patrick and Amanda Roberts.
The trip to Houston marks the first of three consecutive weekend trips for the Cajuns. UL travels to Lake Charles on Friday, Feb. 4 for the Jeff Davis Bank Invite and visits Clemson, S.C., Friday-Saturday, Feb. 11-12 for the Tiger Paw Invitational.
