Matt Goulas executed a squeeze bunt with Kyle Bostick breaking from third base in the 13th inning and Louisiana finally outlasted La.-Monroe 6-5 in game one of a Friday doubleheader at Warhawk Field in Monroe.

The Cajuns (35-18, 19-9 Sun Belt) carried a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth, but the Warhawks (17-36, 7-21 Sun Belt) plated two runs off of Cajuns closer Joey Satriano to forge extra innings.
After neither team scored in the 10th and 11th inning, Chad Keefer began the 12th inning with an opposite field home run over the right field fence and the 4-4 deadlock was undone.
With runners on the corners in the bottom of the 12th and two outs, Taylor Abdalla fired a single back up the middle to pull the Warhawks into a 5-all tie and extend the game into the 13th inning.
Bostick led off the 13th inning with an infield single to second base, but Caleb Clowers was unable to keep it in the infield and the error moved Bostick over to second base. Kyle Olasin bunted him to third base to set the stage for Goulas' game-winning play.
The Warhawks got a baserunner on with one out in their half of the 13th on a Perry Smith single up the middle. Dayton Marze induced a double play ball from pinch hitter Derek Ward and the contest finally ended nearly four hours after in began.
Zach Osborne turned in another quality outing for the Cajuns tossing 8 1/3 innings and holding the Warhawks to seven hits and three earned runs, but was left with a no decision after Satriano was unable to close the door.

Marze, who pitched the final 4 1/3 innings for the Cajuns, claimed the victory which was his fifth of the season. Will Browning tossed the final four innings for the Warhawks and took the loss.
The Warhawks got a leadoff single from Jarrett Hammond in the bottom of the second and he was brought home later in the inning on a Shane Ardoin single to left field for an early 1-0 lead.
Poirrier collected the Cajuns first base hit leading off the fourth inning and a one-out walk to Tyler Frederick gave UL a pair of baserunners. Alex Fuselier brought them home with a double into the right center field gap and the Cajuns grabbed a 2-1 lead.
Poirrier and La.-Monroe's Casey Autonberry swapped RBI singles in the fifth and sixth inning, respectively, and the Cajuns lead remained one run.
Following Autonberry's RBI single, Osborne retired eight consecutive Warhawk hitters and Bostick added a solo home run to start the ninth inning.
