Women Score First Win of Season

The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday in a 6-1 win over McNeese State (3-1) at Cajun Courts.

"It's always good to get a win under your belt," said head coach Tina Samara. "The girls did a pretty good job. We saw some things we needed to work on, but we'll start working on those things tomorrow against Southeastern."

The Cajuns (1-2) will face the Lions at Cajun Courts on Sunday at 1 p.m.

This was the first opponent the Cajuns had faced outside of the Top 30.

The Cajuns won the doubles point and picked up wins at five of the six singles spots. Julie Mazinova won at the No. 2 spot against Tea Tvrtkovic 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. Milou Israel beat Victoria Martinez 6-2, 6-2. Mia Gordaon beat Maria Frausto 6-3, 6-3. Tara Vasovic beat Petra Gudelj 6-2, 6-2. Shelby Dufrene beat INga Efimenko at the No. 6 spot 6-2, 7-5.
