Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team struggled to find its shooting stroke on Saturday at the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock, Ark., falling to UALR 88-38.

The Cajuns shot a meager 24.5 percent (13-53) from the floor, while UALR was able to make 63.5 percent on the afternoon (40-63).

UL is now 6-12 on the year and fall to 1-5 in the Sun Belt. The Trojans improved to 13-5 overall and 6-1 in the league.

The Cajuns and the Trojans would trade points in the opening minutes until UL was able to grab a 10-8 lead after a steal and a lay-up by Alexis Green at the 15:45 mark.

But UALR would put together a 24-3 run to grab the lead for good at 30-13 with 7:28 remaining in the first half.

The Cajuns struggled to shoot the ball well in the first frame, hitting just 22.2 percent (6-27), and found themselves trailing 54-13 at the half.

UL failed to hit a field goal in the final 10 minutes of the first half.

The Trojans could not miss in the first half, hitting 24-of-30 from the floor (80.0 percent).

In the second half, UL's shooting improved slightly to 26.9 percent (7-26) but UALR continued to knock down 48.5 percent of their attempts (16-33).

Mercedes Johnson led the Cajuns with nine points.

Six players from UALR reached double figures in the scoring column with Shanika Butler recording a triple-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists.

The Cajuns will return to Lafayette, La. for their next two contests. On Wednesday, Jan. 20, UL will face in-state rival New Orleans at 7 p.m. at Earl K. Long Gym. On Saturday, Jan. 23, the Cajuns will return to Earl K. Long for a contest against Troy at 2 p.m.
