FULLERTON, Calif.-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns softball team dropped their second game of the Judi Garman Classic as they fell 9-1 in six innings to No. 10 Michigan on Friday afternoon.

The Cajuns were hurt by three errors which helped the Wolverines put the game out of reach.

Donna Bourgeois (11-3) took the loss for the Cajuns.  The sophomore hurler worked 5.2 innings, surrendering nine runs, however, only two of the runs were earned runs.  Bourgeois fanned only two batters in the game ? her lowest strikeout total of the year ? and surrendered a season-high five walks in the game.

Offensively, the Cajuns collected five hits on the day.  Katie Smith led the way, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.  Fellow slap hitters, Karli Hubbard and Vallie Gaspard each had a hit apiece, while Christi Orgeron added an RBI single.

Melissa Verde scored the Cajuns' only run of the game, coming across the plate on Orgeron's RBI single to center field.

The Ragin' Cajuns were the first team to plate a runner.  The Cajuns managed to score a run on three hits, but ultimately left three runners on base in the opening inning of the game with the Wolverines.  Smith and Hubbard led off the game with back-to-back singles and Verde walked to load the bases.  Back-to-back fielder's choices eliminated the lead runners, but Christi Orgeron followed with a two-out RBI single to center field to score the first run of the game.

Michigan responded with three runs in the bottom of the first inning.  UM was helped out by costly fielding error by the Cajuns that would have ended the inning.  With two on and two outs, a triple to right field cleared the bases and put the designated home team in front 2-1.  Michigan added a run in the inning to take a 3-1 advantage after one inning of play.

The Wolverines threatened in the bottom of the third inning.  After the leadoff battered doubled to left field and was thrown out by Smith trying to advance to third base, Michigan loaded the bases thanks to an uncharacteristic three walks by Bourgeois.  The sophomore regrouped and fanned the next batter.  A lazy ground ball to first base ended the inning and halted the danger.

UM added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Michigan took advantage of the Cajuns' second error of the game to plate two runs on a pair of hits.  Neither run was earned, but after four complete innings of play, Michigan led 5-1.

Michigan put the game away in the sixth inning with a four-run inning.  The Wolverines used three hits and a Louisiana error to end the game in run-rule fashion, 9-1.

The Ragin' Cajuns softball team will continue play in the 2009 Judi Garman Classic with a game against No. 24 Fresno State at 7:30 p.m. (Central) tonight.
