LAFAYETTE-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team's troubles continued on Saturday night as they fell 66-52 decision to South Alabama.  The Cajuns (3-16, 0-8 Sun Belt) dropped their sixth straight game and remained winless in 2009.

Louisiana started 0-8 in the Sun Belt Conference for the first time since the 2000-01 season.

The Cajuns were led by Krystal Motley.  The freshman posted just her second double-digit scoring effort of her career, scoring a career-best 11 points on the night.

Alexis Green chipped in 10 points on the night.  The junior transfer finished the game with 10 points.  The game marked the 14th time this season Green has recorded double-digits in a game.  She has scored double-figures in all seven of the Sun Belt Conference games she has played.

Jasmine Barnes and Lyndra Bell added nine and eight points, respectively.

The Cajuns were without the services of their second-leading scorer Mercedes Johnson who missed the game for personal reasons.

Barnes and Green paced the Cajuns with seven rebounds apiece.

South Alabama had four players in double-figures on the night.  Shakira Nettles led all scorers with 18 points, while Ra'Shawna Sippio recorded a double-double on the night (13 points, 12 rebounds).

After shooting under 30-perent from the floor in the first half, the Cajuns rebounded to shoot 40.0-percent as a team in the second half.  The Cajuns outscored the Jaguars 29-25 in the second half, but were able to make up the 18-point halftime difference.

South Alabama used a 12-to-2 run in the opening four and a half minutes of the game to build a double-digit lead from which the Cajuns could not recover.  Louisiana fell behind by as many as 19 in the first half, but despite their best efforts could not cut the deficit to less than 10 points.

The Cajuns failed to muster any offense in the early going, scoring just one field goal in the first seven minutes of play.

UL shot just 29.6-percent from the floor in the first half, compared to 56.7-percent by South Alabama and trailed 41-23 at intermission.

The second half was much of the same as the Jaguars extended their lead to as many as 23 points.  The Cajuns rallied to cut the lead to just 10 points, but were unable to get any closer.  The Jaguars extended their lead back to as many as 16 to secure the victory.

The Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team returns to action as they head to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to take on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders.  Tip-off for the game with Middle Tennessee is slated for 7 p.m.
