Diamond Notes. After snapping its five-game losing streak, Louisiana looks to rebound with a pair of midweek games beginning Tuesday at Conference USA power Houston...This week marks the first of five five-game weeks for the Ragin' Cajuns...Tuesday will be the first of two trips to Houston for the Cajuns this season. Later this month, UL will return to face defending C-USA champion Rice...Houston will be the third Conference USA team the Cajuns have faced in the last seven days...Tuesday's meeting is the first between the schools since 2003 when the Cougars swept a three-game series from the Cajuns in Houston...Louisiana's last win in the series came on May 30, 1999, when the Cajuns claimed their first NCAA Regional title following a 19-8 win...On Monday, senior LHP Hunter Moody was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week. Moody has tossed 13 shutout innings, allowing just five hits with a team-high 19 strikeouts.

Moody Named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week for Second Straight Week. Senior left-handed pitcher Hunter Moody became the first Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns pitcher to earn back-to-back weekly league honors when he was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday...Moody (2-0), the reigning SBC and LSWA Pitcher of the Week, threw another gem on Sunday, combining for his second shutout in two starts to open the 2008 season. Moody struck out a season-high 10 batters to help Louisiana snap a five-game losing streak in a 2-0 win Sunday. Moody scattered four hits in seven innings - three of Moody's four hits allowed were bunt singles. In 13 innings, the southpaw has been victimized for just five hits, while striking out a team-high 19 batters. Opponents are batting .119 against the Preseason All-Sun Belt selection...Monday's honor was Moody's fourth of his heralded career at Louisiana. His victory Sunday was his 24th as a Cajun, moving him into a tie for fourth place with Phil Devey (1997-99) on the school's career list. Moody, who trails Andy Gros (2000-03) and Scott Dohmann (2002-05) by two wins, needs three more to become the school's all-time leader. Moody also ranks in the career Top 10 in games started (40) and innings pitched (268.1)...Moody's four weekly Sun Belt Conference honors are the second-most in school history behind Kevin Ardoin (2002-05), who finished with five. Moody (2006, 2008) and Ardoin (2004, 2005) are the only two pitchers in Cajuns history to be named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week twice in the same season.

Moody, Cajuns Snap Five-Game Losing Streak with 2-0 Win...Reigning SBC and LSWA Pitcher of the Week Hunter Moody threw another gem on Sunday. Moody combined for his second shutout in two starts to open the 2008 season as the southpaw struck out a season-high 10 batters to help Louisiana to a 2-0 win over No. 29 Southern Miss at "The Tigue"...Moody's 10 strikeouts were the most since he struck out a career-high 12 against Minnesota on March 17, 2006...With the win, Louisiana (3-5) snapped its five-game losing streak, while earning its first victory at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field this season.

Wednesday's Game Time Moved Up to 5:30 p.m. at "The Tigue"...Wednesday's home game against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions has been moved up one hour to 5:30 p.m. because Louisiana is hosting a first round game of the Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Championship at the CAJUNDOME.

Southern Miss Spoils Cajuns' Home Opener, 6-0...Southern Miss' Barry Bowden threw a complete-game two-hit shutout, striking out 10 batters as the 29th-ranked Golden Eagles spoiled Louisiana's home opener 6-0 Friday on "Gene Bacque Night" at the M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field...Louisiana suffered its first home-opening defeat since Feb. 17, 1993, when the Ragin' Cajuns lost 13-11 to Nicholls State. Head coach Tony Robichaux is now 13-1 all-time in home openers at "The Tigue".

Nearly 3,000 Attend Cajuns' Home Opener Friday vs. Southern Miss...Nearly 3,000 fans attended UL's home opener against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on Friday. Friday night's crowd of 2,978 was the largest opening-day crowd at "The Tigue" since Feb. 11, 2005 versus Louisiana Tech.

Struggles at the Plate Continue...Since Louisiana scored 13 runs on 25 hits in the first four games of the season, the Cajuns have managed four runs on 19 hits in the last four contests.

Houston Scouting Report...Houston (4-4) enters Tuesday after finished 1-2 at the Houston College Classic Presented by The Houston Chronicle last weekend with a 5-4 win over Texas Tech in the opener before losing to Oklahoma and No. 3 Texas in extra innings...1B Bryan Pounds, OF Jake Stewart and P Wes Musick all were named to the Houston College Classic All-Tournament team for their performances...Catcher Austin Goolsby tied a school record with three doubles against Oklahoma on Saturday...Sophomore RHP John Touchton (1-1) will make his first start on Tuesday. He has appeared in four games, posting three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.

SLU Scouting Report...Southeastern La. enters Wednesday's game having lost three of the last five games. SLU won two out of three games against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last weekend in Hammond...Wednesday's game will be only the Lions' second road game this season. SLU's other road game was a 4-3 extra-inning loss at Tulane on Feb. 26...SLU is batting .237 as a team, while Brandon Street leads the team with a .435 clip.

Houston Series. Houston holds a 34-10-1 all-time series lead with the Ragin' Cajuns. The Cougars have won 15 of the last 18 games, including the last six...Louisiana hasn't won in Houston since May 30, 1999, when the Cajuns clinched the NCAA Regional title with a 19-8 victory...Tuesday will be Louisiana's first trip to Houston since the 2003 season. The Cougars swept the three-game series.

Southeastern Louisiana Series. Louisiana leads the series 56-37 and has won 23 of 31 meetings at home...The Cajuns have won the last five meetings and eight of the last nine. Louisiana hasn't lost at home to SLU since March 20, 1987 (11-8).

I-10 Series. Houston is the third of seven Louisiana opponents located along the Interstate 10 corridor. Last week, the Cajuns lost 10-1 at Tulane in New Orleans. The Ragin' Cajuns also face I-10 schools Rice, McNeese State, South Alabama and LSU.

Up Next - Arkansas State. Following midweek games against Houston and SLU, the Cajuns open Sun Belt Conference play against the Arkansas State Indians with a three-game weekend series, beginning Friday.

Gene Bacque Night. Friday night's home opener against Southern Miss was ?Gene Bacque Night'. Louisiana honored the former baseball player and coach, who later became one of the best players in Japanese Baseball history.
