Nikya Hughes drained a three-point basket with 32.6 seconds remaining to give the Trojans a two-possession lead. The Cajuns had only three team fouls and used the final 30 seconds to commit four fouls. Kim Sitzmann missed her free throw attempt in the final seconds, but there wasn't enough time remaining for UL.
Alicia McDaniel led the Cajuns with her fourth double-double of the season. The senior posted 16 points and 10 rebounds. Whitney Dunlap added 11 points and a career-high seven boards. Sonora Edwards was held to six points and needs nine more to reach 1,000 in her career.
The first 20 minutes decided nothing, as the teams were mired in a 22-22 deadlock.
An 8-0 spurt by the Cajuns gave the hosts a 33-28 lead at the 13:30 mark of the second half. Edwards' first basket started the run, which saw three points apiece from Dunlap and McDaniel.
The Trojans came back again to tie the game, 35-35, with 9:14 remaining.
UL took the lead thanks to a three-point play by Courtney Ratliff at the 6:26 mark, but Sitzmann's basket pushed UALR in front with 3:53 to play.
Neither team would score for the next 2:34 until a basket by the Trojans' Anshel Cooper put UALR ahead by three points with 79 seconds remaining.
Cooper led all players with 18 points. Hughes added 13 points and eight rebounds.
The Cajuns jumped out to a lead midway through the first half. Tied at 9-9, UL used a 9-1 run to grab an 18-10 advantage. A triple from Dunlap, two free throws by Ratliff, a lay-up by McDaniel and a jumper in the lane from Bronson Rodgers helped the Cajuns to the eight-point lead with seven minutes remaining. UALR missed six straight shots during that span.
The Trojans came back with seven straight points to cut the Cajuns lead down to one point at the 3:23 mark.
McDaniel's driving basket with four seconds left in the half tied the score at the break.
The Cajuns finish the season with two home games next week. UL faces North Texas on Wednesday at 7pm at Long Gym and
