Cajuns Split DH With SBC Leader Trojans

In game one, the Cajuns received a stellar pitching performance from Brittany Cuevas. The freshman from
In game two, the Trojans hit four out of the park as they split the twin-bill with an 8-5 victory.
Cuevas dominated in the circle from start to finish, allowing no hits and four walks. Cuevas struck out nine Trojan hitters en route to her 24th win of the season against seven losses. In her last 15 innings of work, Cuevas has not given up a run and has only yielded two hits. Angela Lopez took the loss for
Lopez came back in game two to pitch the final four innings and improved her season record to 17-4 as she was credited with the win. Holly Tankersley took the loss for the Cajuns and is now 12-5 overall. Amanda Hill pitched the final 2.2 innings for UL, giving up four hits and one run.
With the doubleheader split,
The Cajuns added two runs in the bottom of the third on Tankersley's 13th home run of the season, a two run blast to right centerfield. With one out, Codi Runyan doubled to left field and Tankersley's shot extended the UL lead to 3-0. Melissa Verde added a double in the
Tankersley led off the bottom half of the fifth inning with her team leading 14th home run of the season, a towering shot to right center field, as UL increased their lead to 4-0. Following a Lacey Bertucci base on balls and a Chatman single up the middle, Lana Bowers singled to centerfield scoring both runners, and the Cajuns led 6-0 at the end of five.

The Trojans extended their lead to 4-1 in the top half of the fourth inning on a Brooke Powell double to right center which plated two runs.
Melissa Verde's two run home run to right centerfield in the bottom of the fourth inning cut the
Tankersley, Chatman, and Verde all singled in the bottom of the fifth cutting the Trojan lead to 7-4. Verde's single scored Tankersley from second.
