The UL women's tennis team improves to 13-6 after its 4-1 win over FAU
BOCA RATON, Fla.-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team defeated Sun Belt Conference foe Florida Atlantic 4-1 on Sunday to improve to 13-6 on the season. The match concluded once the Cajuns captured four wins because of the Cajuns'scheduled flight time. In doubles action, the Cajuns clinched the point after winning at Nos. 1 and 3. Tammy Day and doubles partner Chanell Meijer downed Claudia Kecht and Katherine Bartnik 8-4 at No. 1, while Laura Martelli and Clemence Remy topped Elodie Wendling and Danielle Simone 8-3 at No. 3.
In singles action, the Cajuns picked up three wins. Myrthe Molenveld clinched the match for UL with her 6-3, 6-4 win over Wendling at No. 2. Other wins came from Day at No. 1, who captured a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Kecht, and Martelli, who defeated Pia Terol 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5.
Meijer dropped her match to Bartnik 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3.
The Cajuns will be on the road Friday, March 30 to take on Texas-Arlington.
