Freshman Scott Hawkins singled to right field to score Van De Keere and give the Cajuns a 2-0 advantage.

Preciado led off the second inning with a single through the left side. Following a steal, Parker singled to move Preciado to third base. Parker proceeded to steal second base to give the Cajuns a pair of runners in scoring position. McCarthy doubled to right centerfield to plate Preciado and Parker and increase the Louisiana lead.
