LAFAYETTE ? Denver rallied to win the final three games of Saturday's match and defeated Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team 3-1 (26-30, 30-19, 30-27, 30-23) here at Earl K. Long Gym.

The match was the final home contest of the 2006 season for the Ragin' Cajuns (7-20, 4-12 Sun Belt) who conclude their regular season next weekend on the Arkansas road swing.

The Pioneers (19-9, 12-4 Sun Belt) had too much offensive firepower for the Ragin' Cajuns. DU held a 67-44 advantage in kills and finished the match with a .233 hitting percentage compared to UL's .085 percentage.

Senior Jessica Pattison, playing in her final match at Long Gym, posted a team-high 12 kills to pace the Cajuns' efforts. Rachel Mauti threw down 11 kills and Elizabeth Inman added eight more.

DU was fueled by the combination of Kim Mueller and Lisa Hunter.

Mueller recorded a match-high 19 kills and Hunter collected 18 kills. Mueller had a sizzling .516 hitting percentage getting her kills in only 31 attempts while committing only three attack errors.

Erika Castro was tops on UL with 23 digs. Denver's Alyssa Hampton tied Castro for match-high honors defensively as she tallied 23 digs also.

The Cajuns took an early 1-0 lead in the match after they broke free from a 26-all tie with four unanswered points.

A Pattison service ace broke the tie and Kendra Hall followed with a kill to give the hosts a 28-26 lead. After a Denver timeout, Pattison served up two more aces to give UL a 30-26 victory.

Game one featured 16 tied scores and seven lead changes. UL took advantage of 10 DU attack errors and six service aces.

DU quickly bounced back and evened up the match at 1-1 going into intermission. The Pioneers scored the first four points and never surrendered the lead.

The Cajuns cut the deficit to 13-10, but the Pioneers opened some breathing room with three straight kills to increase their lead to 16-10.

Game three went back-and-forth with seven total ties. The Cajuns could never get the go-ahead point each time they tied the game and the Pioneers escaped with a 30-27 victory that gave the visitors a 2-1 lead in the match.

UL rallied from a 25-21 deficit with four straight points. UL couldn't go ahead as the Pioneers answered with a kill from Kerry Porter to go up 26-25.

The Cajuns forged a 27-all tie, but would let the Pioneers off the hook. Holly Benson broke the tie with a kill and then that Cajuns committed back-to-back attack errors.

The Cajuns got off to a fast start in game four opening a 10-5 advantage. DU rebounded to eventually tie the game at 12-12 and later took the lead for good at 18-17 on a kill by Clare Maxwell.

The Pioneers pulled away when they broke an 18-all tie. A Porter kill made it 19-18. Hampton served up back-to-back aces and Benson capped off a four-point run with another kill that gave the visitors a 22-18 edge.

UL would get no closer than four points, 24-20, before the Pioneers capped off the game and match by scoring six of the final nine points for a 30-23 victory.

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns return to action on Friday, Nov. 10 in Jonesboro, Ark., against Arkansas State at 7 p.m. The regular season wraps up the next day on Saturday, Nov. 11 in Little Rock against UALR at 4:30 p.m.
