MIAMI - Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday thanks to a 17-7 victory over Florida International.

Louisiana improves to 5-5 (2-3) on the season, while FIU falls to 0-10 (0-5).

The Cajuns needed a big defensive performance and found one late in fourth quarter. Leading 10-7, UL had just turned the ball over on downs at the FIU 10-yard line. Three plays later, Gerren Blount collected his second career interception, giving the offense back the ball at the FIU 28-yard line.

Tyrell Fenroy capped off his career night, rushing four times for 19 yards on the drive, including a two-yard touchdown that put the Cajuns ahead by 10 points with 3:30 remaining.

Fenroy finished the evening with 34 carries for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

Trailing 7-3 at the half, the Cajuns came out with the first possession of the third quarter and were driving to take the lead. Jerry Babb moved UL 58 yards on eight plays. Facing a third-and-goal from the four-yard line, Babb was sacked by a safety blitz from the blindside. Babb lost the ball and it was recovered by the Golden Panthers.

The Cajuns defense was strong once again, forcing FIU to punt.

Babb then drove the Cajuns 80 yards to take their first lead of the game. After two straight incompletions, Babb hit Corey Fredrick for 12 yards. On third-and-four, Babb was hit on the option left but was able to pitch to Fenroy who rumbled 52 yards down the FIU 10-yard line.

Fenroy finished the drive with a seven-yard touchdown run, putting UL in front 10-7 with 5:51 remaining in the third quarter.

Fenroy gained four yards on each of his next two carries ? moving past F.G. Mixon into fifth place on the Cajuns career rushing list.

Leading by three points early in the fourth quarter, the Cajuns drove 59 yards in eight plays under the direction of Michael Desormeaux. On fourth-and-two at the FIU eight-yard line, the Cajuns went for it and were stopped short, giving FIU the ball with 7:36 remaining.

The Cajuns rang up 354 yards of total offense, including 270 yards rushing. FIU was held to 190 yards of offense and just 53 yards rushing.

FIU used excellent field position in the first quarter to jump out to the lead.

A 30-yard punt return by Lionell Singleton set-up the Golden Panthers at the Cajuns 39-yard line, but FIU chose to punt on fourth-and-six from the Cajuns 35-yard line.

An excellent punt by Chris Patullo pinned UL at their six-yard line. The Cajuns moved 43 yards in seven plays, but on the eighth play, Babb was intercepted by Jeremiah Weatherspoon.

The Golden Panthers pieced together an eight-play, 41-yard scoring drive, ending with a one-yard pass from Padrick to fullback John Ellis.

The touchdown was FIU's first since Oct. 7 and only their fourth offensive touchdown in five Sun Belt Conference games.

Desormeaux came in at quarterback and directed a 10-play, 37-yard drive to get the Cajuns on the scoreboard. Abdule Levier provided the spark, running for 28 yards on a pair of carries.

Drew Edmiston finished the drive with a 47-yard field goal, to trim the Cajuns deficit to 7-3 with 12:43 showing in the second quarter.
