LAFAYETTE-Two streaks ended here Tuesday afternoon, after Texas State-San Marcos defeated the No. 10-ranked Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns 1-0 at Ragin' Cajuns Softball Park.

Texas State starting pitcher Nicole Neuerburg (16-3) held the Cajuns to only one hit for the third time this season. Neuerburg struck out nine Cajun batters en route to the complete-game victory.

Texas State starting pitcher Nicole Neuerburg (16-3) retired the Cajuns side in the first inning. Hillary Guidry flied out to the left fielder. Neuerburg then struck out Holly Tankersley and forced Danyele Gomez to pop up to the catcher to end the opening inning.

Mitchell retired the first six Bobcat batters she faced, before plunking Brittany Hodge to lead off the third inning. Katie Bard replaced Hodge on first and then advanced to second on a Leslie Sharp sacrifice bunt. Bard later advanced to third on a Mitchell wild pitch.

Mitchell settled down to strike out Amy Krueger and forced Kristen Zaleski to pop up a bunt to Joy Webre to end the top of the third inning.

Ashley Evans led off the bottom of the second inning with a stand-up double to right centerfield. Neuerburg then retired the next three Cajuns batters to end the inning. Neuerburg again retired the Cajuns side, this time in the third inning to keep the scoreless tie.

In the top of the fourth, with one out, Ashley Wilson singled to left field, but was thrown out by Crystal George trying to advance to second base.

The next batter, Katie Trahan sent the first pitch she saw from Mitchell over the left field fence to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Mitchell struck out the next batter to end the Texas State half of the fourth inning.

Neuerburg retired the side in the bottom of the fourth, retiring her ninth-straight batter after an Evans strikeout.

Mitchell fanned two Bobcat batters in the top of the fifth, keeping the Texas State lead at 1-0.

Brittany Bryant drew a lead-off walk in the bottom of the fifth. Webre struck out for the first Cajuns out. Senior and pinch hitter Tiffany Grayson then struck out for the second out of the inning. Pinch hitter Leslie Pierce flied out to centerfield to end the Cajuns rally.

Mitchell surrendered a lead-off single to Krueger in the top of the sixth. Zaleski then flied out to George, before Jennelle Wolter singled through the right side of the infield. Webre caught Krueger trying to steal third for the second out of the inning. Wilson fouled out to Gomez to end the inning for the Bobcats.

Neuerburg once again retired the Cajuns side of the inning. She forced Tiffany Hebert and Guidry to both ground out, before getting Tankersley to fly out to right to end the sixth.

Mitchell struck out the side in the top of the seventh to keep the Bobcats at bay.

Gomez led off the seventh inning with a single through the left side of the infield. Evans followed with a pop up to third base for the first out. Bryant struck out swinging for the second out. Webre struck out swinging to end the game.
