Cajuns to Host Reception for Lee

Wednesday, August 11, 2004

LAFAYETTE – The University of Louisiana-Lafayette will hold a reception for new men's basketball coach Robert Lee on Tuesday, Aug. 17 in the Vermillion room of the Cajundome from 5-7pm.

The meet-and-greet is free and open to the public. Coach Lee and his new staff will be on hand to visit with all Cajuns fans.

Free food and beverages will be available, as well as men's basketball season ticket giveaways.

Lee becomes the 12th coach in school history. A nine-year veteran of the Louisiana-Lafayette basketball staff, Lee came to UL Lafayette prior to the 1996-97 season after one of the most successful high school careers in the Acadiana area during the 1990s. The native of New Roads joined the Cajuns program during the summer of 1996 after serving for four years as head coach at nearby Opelousas High School.

During his tenure with the Cajuns, the 36-year-old Lee has been part of a Louisiana-Lafayette program which has advanced to the Sun Belt Tournament semifinals in three of the last five seasons and swept both the regular season and tournament titles during the 1999-00 and 2003-04 seasons to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
