Ragin' Cajuns Suffer Another Rough Day in Final Round at Laredo

LAREDO, Texas-The 52nd
Border Olympics finished in dramatic fashion here
Saturday at the Laredo Country Club. Texas A&M needed
four holes of sudden death to win the tournament by one
stroke over Arkansas. The win was the host school's
first Border Olympics crown since 1997.
Arkansas' Andrew Dahl shot a three-under 69 for the day
to win the tournament. He finished with an 11-under for
the tournament. Lamar's Mark Van Hoose, the tournament
leader after the first two rounds, shot a seven-over 79
to finish nine strokes behind Dahl. Van Hoose finished
tied for ninth overall.
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns had another tough outing on
the course. The Cajuns shot 300 for the day, after
shooting 294 in the first round and 316 in the second.
UL Lafayette finished in 20th place.
UL Lafayette's Tobias Winberg finished tied for 56th
place with eight-over 224 for the tournament. On
Saturday, Winberg shot an even-par 72.
Craig Trahan shot a 12-over 228 for the weekend,
finishing tied for 77th place, while Theo Sliman
finished one shot behind him at 13-over. Peter Badawy
finished tied for 85th place with a 14-over par and
Brett Ashmore ended the tournament in 98th place with a
plus-26.
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns golf team will travel to
Niceville, Fla., to compete in the Sun Belt Conference
Championships at the Bluewater Bay Golf Course April
21-23.
