UNO Hands Cajuns Eighth Straight Setback

NEW ORLEANS – Christine Zimmer posted a double-double, tallying 14 kills and 10 digs, to help lead the University of New Orleans to a 3-0 (30-17, 30-21, 30-27) win over Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team here Saturday afternoon at the Lakefront Arena.
Jennifer Cruz added 13 kills and the Privateers out-killed the Ragin' Cajuns 50-29 while holding UL Lafayette (4-15, 0-6 Sun Belt) to a .048 hitting percentage.
Beth Henson and Hope Webre each had six kills to lead the Cajuns offense. Four players tallied at least seven digs led by eight from Anahi Aliaga and Hollie Girouard.
The Privateers (8-12, 2-4 Sun Belt) tallied double-digit kills in all three games and attacked above .200 each time. UNO posted 21 kills in the match-clinching win in the third game.
UNO had a 10.0-7.5 advantage in blocks led by six from Jessica Helgeson while Hillary Carr and Amanda Meyers each had four. Henson, Elina Salomaki and Webre each had three blocks to lead the Cajuns.
UL Lafayette will be off for the next seven days, returning to action next Sunday in a Noon (CST) match at Florida International.
