Hilltoppers Rally Past Cajuns in Sun Belt Opener

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team dropped a 3-2 (30-28, 22-30, 30-27, 20-30, 8-15) decision to defending Sun Belt Conference East Division champion Western Kentucky in their league opener here at the Preston Center Friday night.

The Hilltoppers (16-4, 2-0 SBC) rallied from a 2-1 deficit to spoil the SBC debut of Cajuns head coach Becky Madden. It was WKU's fifth straight win over the Cajuns and their 10th in SBC play dating to last season.

Senior middle blocker Priscilla Lima led all Cajuns with 14 kills and 16 digs as she posted her ninth double-double of the season and seventh in the last eight matches. Stacey Cole (13), Clarice Laires (11) and Lesley Tough (10) combined with Lima to give the Cajuns (6-8, 0-1 SBC) four players with double-digit kills.

Crystal Towler led WKU with 19 kills while Tracy May paced the Toppers defense with 25 digs. Sara Noe contributed with 61 assists. The Hilltoppers hit .210 as a team and tallied 75 kills and 68 assists.

UL Lafayette returns to action Sunday in a 2 p.m. match at North Texas.
