CAJUNS END SEASON AT LOUISIANA TECH March 13, 2002

?RUSTON – Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun basketball team saw a memorable season come to an end Wednesday, as Louisiana Tech put four scorers in double figures en route to an 83-63 win in opening round action of the National Invitation Tournament.

?Gerrod Henderson led all scorers with 22 points, while Antonio Meeking had 18 points and 10 rebounds to send Louisiana Tech (21-9) to a first-round NIT matchup with Vanderbilt.

?Louisiana-Lafayette (20-11) got 15 points and 10 rebounds from senior Darryl Robins, who ended his Cajun career with his third career double-double. Freshman center Michael Southall had 13 points despite constant foul trouble. But the Cajuns shot just 30 percent from the field and 45 percent from the free throw line in the first half.

?The Bulldogs, meanwhile, used a 48 percent effort in the first half to jump out to a 36-27 halftime advantage. Louisiana Tech never trailed in the contest and had the lead up to as many as 15 in the first half.

?The Cajuns, who forced 17 Bulldog turnovers, got the deficit down to seven points on a few occasions in the second half. However, Louisiana Tech connected on two 3-pointers during a two-minute stretch which helped stretch a 10-point lead to 17 with 6:16 left.

?Louisiana-Lafayette ended its season with 20 wins for the second time in three years.
