Boyd and Johnson Key Cajuns Exhibition Win

LAFAYETTE – Five players, including four of five starters, all scored in double-figures as Louisiana-Lafayette's Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team raced to a 111-86 exhibition victory here Wednesday evening at the Cajundome against Sports Tour International.
Junior guard Brad Boyd (St. Thomas More HS) scored a team-best 31 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the floor - including 8-for-14 from three-point range in 32 minutes of action. Senior forward Anthony Johnson had 30 points on 11-of-19 shooting in his 31 minutes. Johnson led all Cajuns with eight rebounds.
Freshman center Chris Cameron, making his much anticipated debut as a Ragin' Cajun, chipped in with 11 points, six rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes of action.
The night's memorable performance came from Sports Tour's Andrej Lukjanec. He scored 45 points on 12-of-22 shooting from the field. Lukjanec was 6-of-10 from beyond the arc and scored Sports Tour's final seven points of the first half.
UL Lafayette ended the game shooting 49.4 percent (42-of-85), including a 57.5 clip in the second half. The Cajuns outrebounded Sports Tour 44-30 and had 16 steals. Kenneth Lawrence had a team-high four steals and a total of seven Cajuns each had at least one steal.
The Cajuns forced 26 turnovers while committing only 13 and had 26 assists - paced by 12 from Boyd.
Louisiana-Lafayette jumped out of the gate running. The Cajuns scored the game's first 11 points with Johnson scoring the first seven and nine of the 11 in the first 3:09 of the game. Lukjanec put Sports Tour on the board with his first of four three pointers in the first half at 16:25.
The Cajuns pushed the lead to as much as 26-8 midway through the first half. Lukjanec's next two three points keyed an 8-2 Sports Tour run that cut the Cajuns lead to 28-16.
After both teams traded baskets for a 33-21 score, UL Lafayette went on an 8-0 run to get the lead to 20 points for the first time. Back-to-back three-pointers from Boyd keyed the Cajuns run.
The Cajuns went to the locker room with a 52-39 advantage.
In the second half the Cajuns eventually got the lead up to a game-high 25 points on a Robert Jupiter slam with 2:05 remaining in the contest.
Eleven Cajuns saw action with eight seeing double-digit minutes.
Louisiana-Lafayette will play its final exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 7:05 p.m. against Arkansas Tech University.
