BATON ROUGE, LA -Field position in the first half would tell the story as LSU jumped out to a 41-0 halftime advantage. UL Lafayette started the first half at an average of their 23-yard line; meanwhile LSU?s average starting position was at the Cajuns 49-yard line.
It took LSU less than 90 seconds to open the scoring. Domanick Davis returned the Cajuns first punt 41 yards to the Cajuns 19-yard line. Louisiana -Lafayette squandered their best starting spot of the night after LaBrandon Toefield fumbled on the Tigers 40-yard line. LSU gained the ball back after Andre George fumbled on the next possession.
A heavy dose of Davis would extend LSU?s lead. Davis rushed for 25 yards on the Tigers? next drive, including a 1-yard touchdown plunge. A bad snap resulted in a missed PAT, giving LSU a 27-0 edge.
George?s second fumble on the Cajuns next drive led to a 10-yard Addai touchdown run, extending LSU?s lead to 34-0. Davis scored his second touchdown of the night to end the scoring in the first half.
UL Lafayette began the second half at their own 33-yard line and drove the ball 52 yards to the LSU 15. A missed opportunity on fourth down cost the Cajuns a chance to put points on the board.
With a little under three minutes left in the third quarter, Addai increased the LSU lead to 48-0 on a 34-yard touchdown run, his second of the night.
