BASEBALL OPENS SEASON WITH DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP

CORNHUSKERS GET PAST BUCKEYES...Feb. 23, 2001 LAFAYETTE -- In the 2001 Mardi Gras Ball Tournament opener, Nebraska held off a surging Ohio State rally by plating four runs in the ninth in a 10-5 victory.

Brandon Eymann homered, doubled and drove home four runs, including a bases-clearing, three-run double that highlighted a five-run Nebraska fourth that propelled the Huskers to a 6-0 lead.

Ohio State, playing its season-opener, responded with a five-run fourth of its on, highlighted by a home run from 2000 Big Ten Freshman of the Year Nick Swisher, who opened his sophomore season with three hits.
