CAJUNS RALLY LATE TO TAKE SBC WIN OVER NEW ORLEANS ... Feb. 5, 2000 LAFAYETTE -- Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns rallied from a double-digit deficit midway through the second half to take a 66-58 victory over New Orleans on Saturday at the Cajundome.

The Cajuns (17-6, 8-1 SBC) took their first lead of the game with only six minutes left in the contest on Bily Jones driving jumper in the lane. Jones' bucket capped a 14-3 run by UL Lafayette over a 5:43 span.

UNO (8-13, 4-6 SBC) retook the lead briefly on Nathaniel Bailey's jumper but Reggie DeGray hit one of two free throws to tie the game one minute later and Jarret Evans' free throw with only 4:36 remaining gave the Cajuns the lead for good.

The Privateers jumped out to a 26-11 lead midway through the game's first 20 minutes and took a 32-24 lead into the locker room. UNO hit 54.4 percent of its shots in the first half, while limiting the Cajuns to a paltry 25.8 percent from the field.

However, UL Lafayette came out of the locker room after the break on fire to hit 12-of-19 second-half shots. Lonnie Thomas led the Cajuns with 17 points and 14 rebounds, including 12 points and nine rebounds in the second half alone, for his team-leading fifth double-double of the season. He finished the night as the Cajuns' only scorer in double digits.

Tory Walker led four UNO players in double digits with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Clyde Ellis added 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds with Bailey and Desmond Baxter scoring 11 and 10 points respectively.
