TEXAS TECH ROLLS PAST CAJUN BASKETBALL ... Nov. 25, 2000 LAFAYETTE – Jamal Brown scored 23 points while dishing out 11 assists, and Andy Ellis added 20 points as Texas Tech cruised to a 94-73 win over Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns on Saturday afternoon at the Cajundome.

The Red Raiders (2-0) shot nearly 60 percent from the field, while holding the Cajun offense to a season-low 33.3 percent from the floor. After hitting 18-of-33 in the game's first 20 minutes, TTU continued to pour it on in the second half, hitting 67 percent of its shots.

It was the first time in six meetings during the series with the Red Raiders that the home team lost. Texas Tech extended its lead in the series to 4-2 and has now won the last two games against the Cajuns.

After the Cajuns (2-1) took a 27-24 lead on Orlando Butler's three-pointer with 7:32 remaining, the Red Raiders exploded on a 19-3 run over the next six minutes to turn a deficit into a comfortable 43-30 lead. Brown highlighted the rally with nine points, and Cliff Owens added six points.

The run continued after halftime as Texas Tech blazed out of the locker room on a 12-3 run for a 55-37 lead at the 17:00 mark. Louisiana-Lafayette eventually whittled the lead down to 14 points two minutes later on Darryl Robins rebound of a missed Kenneth Lawrence three-point attempt, but TTU took off again on an 18-4 run over the next 6:15 to ice the game.

The Red Raiders never led again by fewer than 18 points for the rest of the way.

Cliff Owens tallied 19 points and 10 assists for the Red Raiders' second double-double of the game with Ronald Hobbs recording 14 points.

Butler posted the first double-double of his collegiate career with 18 points and 10 rebounds, including six off the offensive glass. Brad Boyd came off the bench to score 14 points with three 3-pointers in only nine minutes of action, and Darryl Robins added 12 points.

The Cajuns take a lengthy break before returning to action at Auburn on Dec. 4.
