Became the most productive tight end in Cajun history during a four-year career from 2008-11 and part of a team that rebounded from a 3-9 record as a junior to 9-4 as a senior along with winning the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, UL’s first-ever as an NCAA Division I entry … Ranks sixth on UL’s all-time receiving list with 149 catches, fifth all-time in receiving yards with 2,201 and second all-time in receiving touchdowns with 22, trailing only Brandon Stokley’s career record of 25 TD catches … In final home game of career, caught 13 passes for 136 yards – both UL records for a tight end – and scored two touchdowns along with recovering an onside kick in the final two minutes to help Cajuns rally from 35-24 deficit in final three minutes in a 36-35 win over ULM that put them into their first-ever bowl game … In three games against ULM as a starter, totaled 26 catches for 387 yards … Had over 20 catches and over 250 yards in each of his four seasons, including a career-high 51 catches for 606 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior in 2011 … Had career-best yardage season as a junior with 794 yards on 44 catches and seven scores … His eight touchdowns as a senior tied him for second nationally among all FBS tight ends behind only Coby Fleener of Stanford (10) … At the end of his career, he led the nation’s active tight ends in touchdowns (22) … Ranks fifth in Sun Belt Conference history in touchdown receptions … Led UL in receiving in his sophomore and junior seasons and ranked second on squad as a senior … Had seven 100-yard receiving games during career … Twice was a top-eight semifinalist for the John Mackey Award presented to the nation’s top tight end … Also was on the Fred Biletnikoff Award watch list for the nation’s top receiver as a senior … Named first-team All-Sun Belt Conference as both a junior and senior after earning second-team honors as a sophomore in 2009, and was first-team All-Louisiana choice in both of last two seasons … Selected to play in the Senior Bowl … Was named a preseason first-team All-America pick by BleacherReport.com, second-team preseason All-America by Athlon, third-team preseason All-America by GoDaddy.com and fourth-team preseason All-America by Phil Steele services going into his senior season ... Drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the fourth round as the 110th pick and the third tight end taken in draft … Rated by Mel Kiper as one of top five tight ends in draft and ranked third out of 73 tight ends available for draft by NFLDraftScout.com … Played four seasons and 47 games for the Chargers from 2012-15 with 26 starts, and played six games with two starts for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2016 before suffering a concussion in a December game against Cincinnati (five catches for 72 yards in that game) and missing the rest of the season … Finished his five-year career with 95 catches for 1,391 yards and eight touchdowns … Had his best season in his final year in San Diego when he played 13 games, starting 11, and recording 37 catches for 429 yards (11.6 yards per catch) and four touchdowns … Played 70 percent of Chargers’ offensive plays that year after never playing more than 33 percent in his first three seasons … Was not activated because of injury until mid-November in only year in Pittsburgh but still had 18 catches for 304 yards and a score in final six games, and had career-high 110 yards on six catches in second game with the Steelers.
