A lifelong resident of the Acadiana region, Matt Hebert returned to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Athletics Department in February 2015. He presently serves as the assistant director of athletics communications.

He has the privilege of working in the athletics realm at his alma mater, having graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in May 2002 with a bachelor's degree in mass communication.

In his current role, Hebert serves as the primary contact for the Ragin' Cajuns volleyball and softball programs, handling all publicity (web and social media) efforts and overseeing statistical records. He also assists in the publicity and game day operations of the department's 16 athletic programs.

Hebert manages the athletics communications' stat crew staff for football and men's and women's basketball, and serves as official scorekeeper for volleyball and softball. He also coordinates the department's Louisiana Restaurant Partners program which provides meals for media and staff working Louisiana Athletics events.

The Woodlawn (La.) Community native is in his third stint with the Ragin' Cajuns. He previously served as assistant sports information director from December 2002-February 2007 before accepting a position on main campus as property control manager, then returned to the athletics department in the assistant SID role from September 2008-July 2013.

In addition to volleyball and softball, Hebert has at time also served as the primary contact for Louisiana's men's basketball, baseball, soccer, and track and field programs, and served as secondary contact for women's basketball.

During his career he has publicized for teams that have advanced to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament (2004, 2005), NCAA Baseball Regionals (2010, 2013), NCAA Softball Regionals (2002-06, 2015-19), NCAA Softball Super Regionals (2015-16) and the NCAA Women's College World Series (2003). He has also organized publicity efforts for numerous all-conference selections across the sports covered, numbering close to the 100-mark.

As a child, Hebert developed his passion for Ragin' Cajuns Athletics through attending events with his family on a yearly basis from a very young age. He grew up in the Erath, La., school district where he earned his diploma from Erath High School in May 1998.
