• Hurled complete-game shutout in Louisiana Classics in 1998.

What Girouard says: “She missed the fall with us in 1998 and I think that was critical and crucial to her as a pitcher. She kind of came in to her own at the very end of the season, and I think she has picked up from there. She is stronger, more confident and she is happier. So I expect better production out of Sara this year.”
1998: Despite battling nagging injuries, posted 9-1 record with one save in 18 appearances...After dropping first start as Lady Cajun against Tulsa, she proceded to win her last nine decisions ...Had eight complete games and three shutouts in debut season...Tossed a two-hit shutout in second start for Lady Cajuns, getting the win in a 4-0 victory over Indiana Feb. 21 in Louisiana Classics...Had season-best seven strikeouts in that game...Also had shutout wins over Eastern Oklahoma and final outing of season against state-rival Centenary...Went the distance, pitching five innings and allowing two runs in 10-2 win over San Diego State...Was 5-0 with four no-decisions in nine games against Louisiana schools...Lady Cajun offense scored 73 more runs than she allowed in her 18 appearances...Opponents hit .256 against her for year, second lowest mark on team.
Junior College: First team NJCAA All-American at Lake City CC...Pitched perfect game in 1997...Helped lead squad to two playoff appearances.
High School: Graduated from Central High where she was a two-time all-state and all-conference selection...MVP of state tournament in 1997...Led Central to three playoff appearances...Member of ski club.
Personal: Born June 20, 1976 in Pueblo, Colo...Parents are Ernie and Marie Pacheco...Has two older sisters, Laura and Diana...Majoring in Elementary Education. Also considered Nicholls State University before choosing USL.

F.Y.I. ABOUT SARA PACHECO

Best advice anyone gave me: To learn to turn the other cheek. Worst thing about college: Parking and Transit. They always seem to get me. The greatest moment in the history of sports: When the Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl. One word I would use to describe myself: Spontaneous. Outside of family and friends, the most impressive person I have ever met: Coach Girouard. Favorite Coach Girouard moment: When she rode Hollis' bike around the softball field.
